In June, Flint, Michigan's own Jon Connor released Best In The World: The N Tape, a mixtape that pays homage to hip-hop legend Nas by reinterpreting some of his most iconic tracks. This latest offering stands as the sixth installment in Connor's "Best in the World" series, wherein he showcases his lyrical prowess over beats from renowned artists. In past years I discussed at least two of those projects (The Notorious B.I.G. and Kanye West, for example). Throughout The N Tape, Connor delivers his unique perspective and storytelling abilities over Nas's classic instrumentals like "If I Ruled The World," "We Will Survive," "The World Is Yours" and more. The mixtape features 22 tracks, each offering a fresh take on Nas's timeless beats. This is an ambitious offering, but he delivers and doesn't let Nas down.
