Amidst a sea of wave-riding artists and "fake-it-till-you-make-its" is the diamond in the haystack, Huey Briss. On "Black Wax," Long Beach Native Huey Briss teams up with super-producer Nikobeats to create a project that isn't concerned with numbers, trends, or following the crowd, but rather with Legacy and paving their own own way. "I wanted to make a project I could die with, not just live with," says artist Huey Briss. "Staying true to our roots was a focal point in this project. We wanted to show people where we come from, give homage to our influences, but most of all showcase our love/respect for the craft, and I think we did exactly that with "Black Wax." "It's incredible to say we were able to create Sidekick Files Part. 1 (the duo's previous project) in a day," says Nikobeats, "But with Black Wax we really wanted hone in on our craft, and spend more time in perfecting every aspect of what it takes to put together a timeless, classic record. With time spent studying every aspect from writing, producing, to song structure, and even mixing/mastering, we hope you can appreciate the time spent trying to deliver a piece of art that can hopefully stand the test of time." With a "clear view of what's ahead," Huey Briss & Nikobeats plan to release more projects in the future. But for now press play on their newest release "Black Wax" below...
