Today's selection is from Kendrick Lamar's 'Section.80' project on the track 'Kush & Corinthians (His Pain).' I've been sitting with this project since its release, and his lyrics on this track have always stood out to me. As fans celebrate his major studio releases, 'good kid, m.A.A.d city' and 'To Pimp A Butterfly,' it's always been 'Section.80' for me. While I understand those projects' appeal, the mere ramblings of fans and critics got to me and I wasn't able to enjoy it the same. 'Section.80' was Kendrick ... with less noise (to me), lol. Peep the lyrics and audio below. Illustration by Bokkaboom.
'To the meaning of life, what's my purpose?
Maybe this Earth is ain't a good place to be
How far is heaven? Let's see
Is it in the clouds like they said it would be?
I wonder when I die will he give me receipts?
I wonder will the eyes of the lord look at me?
Look at me, look at me, I'm a loser, I'm a winner
I'm good, I'm bad, I'm a Christian, I'm a sinner
I'm humble, I'm loud, I'm righteous, I'm a killer
What I'm doing, I'm saying that I'm human'
