10 years after the classic release of 'Travel At Your Own Pace,' Damu The Fudgemunk and Insight are back with a new album called 'Ears Hear Spears.' What excites me most is that 'Ears Hear Spears' was recorded just before their release of 'Travel At Your Own Pace.' According to Insight: 'We turned in Ears, however, we were shut down at the time by the label (Tres Records, now defunct). They simply said that this album was not what they wanted and expected from us. Damu and I only took about 10 days to do it, but instead of revising it, we shelved it. We quickly recorded a whole new album for label approval ('Travel At Your Own Pace'). Travel was released and time went on. Over the years, Ears became foreign to me. It got to a point where it seemed like my past speaking to my present. The album discusses the importance of togetherness, using your mind, not being manipulated by the music industry to represent ignorance and yet maintain rawness. Opportunities were limited due to the content in which some suggested was irrelevant and unmarketable. As time progressed, inequality, racism and ignorance moved to the forefront; dominating news and the rising usage of social media. This album became more relevant as time went by. It feels as if it is a duty to release it, before I release the new projects I have planned for the near future. Rather than just point out the negative, hopefully it can help us to find ways to cope and move our mind to a better place." - Insight.
